The race for the 2024 BBGL Championship is coming down the stretch, with one more round to play in October. Defending Champion Kyle Gruman is doing his best to hang on to a tight lead and go back-to-back. After missing the first round of the season, he's been absolutely dominant - including firing off a 77 in Round 2.
Gruman's only low score of 5 was from a particularly small field in which he tied for 5th behind winner Ryan Huotari. Huotari shot a personal best 82, and is currently in solo second. However, in a dramatic turn of events, Ryan is expected to miss the final round. Last year's runner up David Lind is lurking just behind him in 3rd, but Lind will need to bring home six points from the Championship round to surpass Huotari for second place; Ryan actually regains a few points by withdrawing from the last round since his current lowest score is 3.
Just within reach of a 3rd place payout is league commissioner, webmaster, and devilishly handsome degenerate Tyler Bray. Tyler will need 9 points to overtake Ryan and clinch a spot on the podium, and will also have to beat David by at least four points to achieve 2nd. Bray's gone second-second-first in his last three outings. Rounding out the top five in the points race is Michael Skinner, who's been steadily racking up points all season. Skinner has the highest dropped score of anyone in the league, showing his consistent good form all summer... A full field, a career day from Skinner, and a Rory-esque choke job from the commish Tyler could mean a final-round shake up in the standings.
It all comes down to who can go low on October 27th, where the BBGL will play it's final round of the season. The Championship round will be followed immediately after by paying out the podium players, and a celebration of another year in the books!
