4.1 The 2024 season league membership fees are tiered per division.
4.1 (a) League fees must be paid before the start of the season via BogeysAndBeersGolf.com, and do not include green fees for league events.
4.2 League fees fund the winner’s purse, 2024 season commemorative BBGL souvenir, and the operation/maintenance of the website.

5.2(a) If a player can’t compete in a tournament they registered for, they need to contact the commissioner ASAP. Refunds are not guaranteed.
5.3 Green fees often include carts. Some courses force you to pay for a cart when booking outside the regular booking window. Booking before tee times are released to the public is crucial in securing consecutive tee times for a large group.
6. LEAGUE PLAY: “The Golf Rules”
6.1 Players in the Championship division must play from the back tees. Players in the Just For Fun division may choose their tees, subject to fair assessment by their playing partners.
6.2 All matches will be played under “Summer Rules,” which means - Play it as it Lies.
6.2 (a) Movement of loose impediments and moveable obstructions will follow Rule 15 of the official USGA rules.
6.3 UNFAIR LIE RULE: If your ball rests in a divot or in ground which may be considered under repair or unfair, you may place a ball at the nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole, without penalty, only after notifying and receiving permission from an opponent. A bunkered ball shall be placed in the bunker. If permission is not granted then the ball must be played as it lies. If the course dictates “cart path only” you may Lift, Clean, & Place your ball, in your own fairway only.
6.3 (a) If your ball comes to rest on a cart path, you may take free relief, moving your ball no closer to the hole.
6.4 No putts for birdie or better may be conceded. Only pars and higher putts may be conceded at the discretion of the group.
6.5 Designated DROP AREAS, will be used on the par 3 holes only. You can PLACE the ball within the Drop Circle or outside the drop circle on a line to the previous shot back as far as you wish, no closer to the hole.
6.6 The MAXIMUM SCORE on any hole is 4 over par. A player may pick up on any hole and take a 4 over par score.
6.7 “Breakfast Ball;” Any player may replay ONE tee shot per 18 holes. OFF THE TEE ONLY.
6.7 (a) You must announce the Breakfast Ball before you take it. You cannot play your first shot once the Breakfast Ball has been announced. Mark your scorecard with BB to signify which hole you used it on.
6.7 (b) Any player may buy an extra Breakfast Ball (“Lunch Box”) for $10, which will be added to the purse. This must be purchased BEFORE your round starts, and is limited to ONE extra. Lunch Boxes must be purchased from, and approved by, either the commissioner or secretary. Lunch Boxes use the same rules as Breakfast Balls, but mark your card instead with LB.
6.7 (c) Unused Breakfast Balls do not rollover to the next round. Lunch Boxes DO. Upon purchasing your LB, you will receive a physical token to be turned in to the commissioner upon the LB’s use. LB’s have no expiration, but you may only have one at a time. You may pay $10 to keep your LB for the next round after using it.
6.8 “The 4 Options Rule”: How to Handle: A Lost Ball / Unplayable Lie / Out of Bounds / Wooded Areas / Any Water Hazard / Or ANY BALL WHICH HAS TO BE MOVED IN ORDER TO PLAY IT.
PENALTY: ADD 1 STROKE and use one of the following 4 options…
Option 1: Place the ball and re-hit from approximately the same spot as your last shot.
Option 2: Place the ball 2 club lengths from where the ball lies or the point of entry, no closer to the hole.
Option 3: Keep the point of entry between yourself and the Flag and place the ball on this line, no closer to the hole, back as far as you want.
Option 4: Keep yourself between the point of entry and Your Last Shot and place the ball on this line, no closer to the hole, back as far as you want.
Definitions:
Point of Entry: The last point where the ball crossed playable golf course – before becoming unplayable, whether going out of bounds, lost, or in a hazard or wooded area. If the shot never crosses playable golf course then use option 1. If the player and the opponents disagree substantially where to spot the point of entry, it can be a compromised spot agreed to by both sides. Make a decision and GO!
Drop: In all “drop situations” where a penalty stroke is being added, you may Place the ball no closer to the hole and at least two clubs lengths from a green. Never on a green.
Unplayable Lie: A player at any time can declare his ball unplayable and use the 4-options rule.
6.9 If there are any RULES DISPUTES during a match a provisional ball can be played and the rules committee will make a decision. Committee decisions are final.
6.10 Any rules not specifically stated by this charter will default to official USGA and local ruling.
7. HANDICAPS and ADJUSTED SCORE
7.1 The actual scores will be adjusted for handicap purposes as follows:
7.1 (a) Nothing higher than QUADRUPLE BOGEY is allowed. Pick up and move on!
7.1 (b) Each player will receive a number of extra strokes (“pops”) equal to the difference between that player’s handicap score and the lowest handicap in the division.
7.1 (c) Players will “pop” on holes starting with the hardest. Player’s receiving more than 18 extra strokes will start back at the hardest. For example, a player receiving 6 extra strokes for adjusted handicap scoring will pop on the 6 holes with the hardest handicap rating. A player receiving 20 extra strokes will pop on every hole, and pop twice on the hardest two holes. The player with the lowest handicap will not receive extra strokes.
7.2 There is no maximum handicap for the league, but sandbaggers will be tarred and feathered.
7.3 GHIN handicaps are required to compete in the Championship division.
7.4 Creating a preseason handicap: An official handicap is calculated by averaging the lowest 8 of your last 20 scores (18 holes only), and finding the difference between the average and 72 (standard par). Consult with the league commissioner to determine your handicap if you have no idea what this has been talking about since 7.1.
8. LEAGUE STANDINGS / CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS
8.1 Championship points will be awarded to all players competing in the Championship division
8.2 Adjusted net scores will be used to determine finishing position for each tournament.
8.3 Last place will receive one point, and the points increase by position up to the tournament winner.
8.3 (a) If any player in the top 5 of a tournament completed their round without the use of Breakfast Balls, they receive a two-point bonus to their championship points.
8.4 The PURSE (consisting of league dues and Lunch Box sales, minus possible Hole In One payout) will be awarded to the three players with the most points at the end of the season, and divided as follows: Third Place - 12%, Second Place - 25%, First Place- 63%
8.4 (a) In the event of a Hole In One, $100 will be paid (immediately) to the lucky player, taken out of the Purse.
8.5 If there is a tie for points Champion at the end of the season, the players involved have the option to either split the winnings evenly, or play an all-or-nothing tiebreaker. Tiebreakers will be played on par 3 hole(s), using unadjusted net scoring. Players must agree upon one of two formats.
OPTION A - ROLL THE BONES. Players golf one hole only. If both players score the same number of strokes, the player whose ball COMES TO REST closer to the pin is the winner.
OPTION B - THE BITTER END. Players golf as many holes as it takes for someone to score lower than the other. If there are more than two players, and there is a tie on a hole for the lowest score, all players may continue competing. Score on the winning hole must be lower than that of all players involved in the tiebreaker.
8.5 (a) In the event of a 3+ way tie, a player may elect to take a payout equal to 60% of the even split, and not participate in a tie breaker. Players participating in the tiebreaker will compete for the remainder.
8.6 Only the best five scores from each player’s season will be used to calculate championship points. This allows all players to miss one round if necessary without being penalized. It rewards people who play every round by allowing them to throw out their lowest score
